Manado has a tropical climate and is therefore warm and humid. The maximum monthly temperature is 34°C and the minimum is 19°C. The average temperature levels at about 27°C.

The water temperature ranges between 27°C -29°C; however, on the reef flats it can reach more then 30°C. Overall, there are two major seasons, "the dry" and "the not so dry" season.

In the not so try season, from November until end of February, cooler north westerly winds occur and carry some rain and occasionally rough seas. From March until end of October the wind comes from the south-west and brings dry and humid air.
