Oplets

  • Traveling through the city is easy and cheap, if you know how to use the public transport (Oplet) in Manado area.
    For example, when you want to use an Oplet from the airport to Manado city, it will cost only around IDR 5000 (approx.EUR €0.40).
  • Though for your comfort, you better take a taxi from Airport to Manado city and it will cost IDR 100.000 (approx.EUR €8).
  • In Manado city you might want to use the blue mini buses (Bemo); bemos mostly stop where ever you are walking alongside the pavement, signaling your need for a cab. Though, they are not very spacious they are clean and filled with local people and charming music. From one side of the city to the other, it will only cost you IDR 1.750 (approx.EUR €0.14).
  • Taxi services in North Sulawesi are operated by Dian Taxi and Merit Taxi. Only some of them have a meter. Though only few drivers are not using it. Call 851010 (Hunting - Dian taxi, Local phone) to pick you up from the hotel.
  • The regular price from the airport to the city by taxi is at the moment by IDR 100.000 (approx.EUR €8).

Intercity bus 

  • These buses are mainly operating for long distance journeys, such as from cities in Minahasa Raya to cities in Bolaang Mangondow, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi and South Sulawesi. The capacity varies from 16 to 40 passengers and the fare depends on distance.
  • For example, from terminal Paal 2 (Manado Area) to Terminal Tangkoko at Bitung will cost IDR 4000/person (approx EUR €0.32).


Rent a car 

  • Renting a car in Manado is possible at the airport and in the city, and usually comes with a local driver; prices are matter of individual negotiation, duration and offer. In Indonesia there is a left-handed traffic system.
